'Disorientating and beautiful' The Guardian
What is the job of a surtitle?
“It’s like a subtitle…It gives the viewer a bit more information…
Like, Paris 1912. Or 27 years later. That’s not really what this is.”
Come As You Are is a participatory performance about you. A text appears above you written live by the artists in response to your presence, the way you hold yourself and a few small pieces of information submitted just prior to the event.
There may be some music. We’ll see what seems to fit. We will find beauty and humour in this very real, yet contrived situation. The results will be unexpected, revealing and sometimes moving.
