CAPTURING THE FOREST

Be transported to the forest this autumn with Capturing the Forest, an installation and live intervention by acclaimed artists Kristina Veasey (UK) and Alejandro Ahmed (Brazil). Merging sculpture, ceramics, sound, film and movement, this groundbreaking international collaboration brings the essence of the forest to you, exploring accessible routes into nature while immersing you in the landscape.

As disabled artists, both Veasey and Ahmed have faced challenges in accessing nature. This artwork is their tribute to the forest, inspired by the experiences of those who love the natural world but may not be able to visit it. Drawing from the vastly different forests of the UK and Brazil, they use design, AI, raw materials, and live broadcast to create a sensory-rich celebration of nature, art, and technology.

Immerse yourself in forest clearings shaped by the artists’ interpretations of their experiences. From her bedroom, Kristina Veasey invites you to walk through these spaces, joining her in a peaceful forest-bathing meditation. You can also touch and smell the clay she works with, creating your own dorodango.

Alejandro Ahmed’s Forest Fiction invites you to contribute your words to a growing forest of imagination.

This installation and live event will take place at the Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts, situated on the University of Sussex Falmer campus (Brighton).
