During Spring 2015, The National Trust (Trust New Art), producers In Between Time and the musician Patrick Wolf embarked on a unique and incredible project titled Night Songs.

Together we unlocked the doors to four National Trust properties at night (Tyntesfield, Barrington Court, Osterley House and Nostell Priory). Mysterious musicians and performance artists occupied chapels, turrets, kitchens and stairwells, as audiences wandered freely through the house

Night Songs featured commissions from some of the UK's most innovative artists including Reckless Sleepers, Knights of the Invisible, Louisa Fairclough, Alex Bradley and Eloise Fornieles.

At the heart of the project was a commissioned song by the inimitable Patrick Wolf. Written following a period of residency at Tyntesfield near Bristol. "Sermon Of Soil", is inspired by the characters and history Patrick encountered during his research.

“Tyntesfield was an intense looking glass I stared into, and I’m very grateful for what came back , as overwhelming as it seemed some nights wandering room after room through four generations of history.” “In a way, that’s what I hope more people will do one day with National Trust properties, to go and project their own imagination into the space and see what comes back at them.”
