In Between Time is committed to being an anti-racist organisation.
Over our 20-year history we have constantly sought to tell stories from underrepresented voices and present authentic experiences beyond those of our own understanding. We have worked with communities and support organisations to ensure we strive for the highest levels of awareness, representation and inclusivity in everything we do.
As an employer and producer, we constantly seek to recruit and nurture the talent of a diverse workforce, and this includes an ongoing commitment to equitable and inclusive employment. We actively seek to support the hiring of individuals from underrepresented backgrounds and continually seek ways to ensure we are a safe space for people to dedicate their time and energy.
We are aware that to be an anti-racist organisation is an endless task and commit to this mission wholeheartedly. Where racist views ebb, flow and mutate with world events, In Between Time will remain vigilant and steadfastly opposed to the infiltration of hateful and destabilising ideologies and seek to give voice to those who are silenced.
In Between Time holds itself accountable to ensure that:
- We embed anti-racism into our programme, our operations and our networks.
- We are accountable for the investments we make both financial (including funders) and in the form of our attention and time to ensure we do not give advantage to hateful or disparaging ideologies.
- We are a safe space for the employment of staff and the nurturing of an equitable and inclusive team of individuals from all walks of life.
- We remain a caring and brave space for the sharing of ideas and platforming of marginalised or oppressed voices.
- We will work in partnership with artists, organisations and communities from experiences and heritages which are not our own and will remain aware of the historically white advantage of our founders and those of whom we may work with.
- We will not conflate unconscious bias with anti-racism and know that it is not enough to be aware of white privilege and historically tolerated notions of otherness. We will actively seek ongoing education on how to deliver anti-racist outcomes from anti-racist beliefs.
- We welcome discussion, education and support from people who wish to oppose or interrogate our decisions from a position of racial inclusion. We will not judge those who come forward and will treat any such instances in the strictest of confidence.
