During the month of April, Festival Panorama held the opening of a public call for selection of new projects to compose the second fluctuation of the festival in 2021. In view of the rough seas that involve Brazil, the Panorama Raft is the proposition of an innovative financing format in which reference organizations for the creation and circulation of performing arts pool resources with the objective of financing the creation of unpublished works by artists in the country.
"In 2021, Festival Panorama reinvents itself as a raft, a temporary floating instrument with two stages." Festival Panorama
Festival Panorama's RAFT
It is our great pleasure to support Festival Panorama’s RAFT and their desire to do things differently in 2021. Alongside a host of incredible Brazilian artists and supporters across the world they have created new formats and new ways of cooperating and reaching the public. This new ecosystem for the performing arts has resulted in a programme of online conversations and performances.
From 16th September to 3rd October, there will be an almost daily schedule of performances across Festival Panorama’s online platforms; Facebook, Instagram and Youtube. The performances will typically be available for one week.
“Raft’s artists come from across Brazil. They talk about their realities, cis and trans bodies, black and indigenous ancestries, very young and very old bodies, physics, philosophy, love and politics.” RAFT creator
Come with us as we celebrate the wealth of work from Brazil and its artists.

about the artist
The public call for entries for projects received 273 valid entries from artists from all regions, which were evaluated by the curator committee composed of Nayse López, artistic director of Festival Panorama; by visual artist Rafael RG; and by choreographer and dancer Marcelo Evelin.
The Panorama Raft initiative “can help us now to hold firm and float, until we are launched on other coasts, other continents, in this complete reorganization of the order of things, in the new position of the worlds, which I believe we are helping to build , says Marcelo. The resources obtained by the partnership were destined to 10 projects for the Creation of an unprecedented work in the Panorama Raft online programming. A second support line was also created, called Research & Development, where each of the 5 projects contemplated advances in their investigation and shares their processes online.
Rafael RG highlights that “despite all the adversities we are experiencing, Brazil has a great diversity of artists. Multiple voices and different understandings of contemporary art making” and adds “the selected works will bring to the public different subjects and worldviews, very relevant to everything we are experiencing. Evidencing the power of art in generating ideas and reverberations that can point out paths when everything around us seems to be sinking” .
The program starts on September 7, with a series of online conversations that discuss themes present in the program, in partnership with SESC São Paulo and SESC Pinheiros. The unpublished works and shared researches reach the public as of September 17th.
