'If we want a louder voice and a fairer share, then we need to work together to get what we deserve.' ACORN
The Summit workshop programme, led by artists and activists, will help you develop the tactics, ideas, knowledge, confidence and skills to co-create lo-fi collective actions across the streets of Bristol and the place you live.
This workshop, presented by Bristol ACORN members, will get you actively planning a direct action of your own in response to an issue facing you and your community.
This action will use one of the following tactics: the Picket, the Eviction Resistance, and the ‘March on the Boss’.
The workshop gives an overview of negotiation, roles on a demo, how to show power, tactics, escalation and more.
This event takes place on Day 1 & Day 2 of the In Between Time Summit. The workshop is included in the 1-Day Pass or 3-Day Summit Pass and CAN also be booked separately.
ACORN UK is a community based union of working class people – workers, carers, parents, tenants, residents. It has an ever growing membership of almost 2000 people who work to support and empower low-income individuals and communities across the UK to fight for a better life.
Started in Bristol in 2014, ACORN responded to the economic and political context of the UK which benefits the privileged and was not working for millions of people.
From supporting local residents to tackling slum housing, rogue landlords and letting agents ACORN has won many successful campaigns. In each case their secret has been direct action; taking the campaign directly to the source.
