We Are Warriors

A river of light and sound across Weston’s Marine Lake

Friday 16 & Saturday 17 October 2026 | 5–8.30pm
Knightstone Causeway, Weston-super-Mare
Free | Suggested donation £4

What happens when we push the darkness awaytogether?

We Are Warriors is an immersive sound and light installation by In Between Time, created with the voices of 130 women and girls.

This October, those voices come to Weston-super-Mare, where they will meet thousands of individual lights created by people in Weston and beyond.

Together, we will transform Knightstone Causeway into a river of sound and light — a shared act of remembrance, solidarity and collective strength.

Plan your visit & access

Add your light. Raise your voice.

From 5pm, join us on the Causeway as We Are Warriors begins to build.

Make a small light for someone you have lost, someone you love, or someone who brings light into your life. Add it to the Causeway and become part of a growing constellation of lights.

As darkness falls, the lights gather alongside a powerful composition of roars, sighs and lullabies. Individual voices and individual lights become something larger: a river of light and sound stretching between the two cliffs, illuminating the horizon between land and sea.

On Friday 16 October, Breathing Fire Black Women’s Playback Theatre Company will lead a live roar at 6pm, created with workshop participants and people from Weston.

Come and add your light. Come and raise your voice.

We Are Warriors is completely outdoors. As daylight fades, the Causeway becomes darker and the sound and light installation comes into focus. Stewards will be positioned at both ends of the Causeway throughout the event, welcoming visitors, introducing the work and helping you find your way onto the Causeway.

Two shores. Two roars. One shared act of remembrance

We Are Warriors is an international touring work, supported through public funding by Arts
Council England.

In 2026, the work has travelled from Bristol to Brighton and Manchester, before arriving in
Weston-super-Mare and Sydney, Australia.

Working with Sydney-based performance collective Werewolf, the project connects two
shores through a shared act of remembrance: as one sunset passes into the next, a roar travels across the world from Weston to Sydney and back again.

The voices of We Are Warriors travel across borders, connecting artists and communities
through sound, light and collective action.

We Are Warriors in Weston

This is an important moment for In Between Time: our first public presentation in Weston-
super-Mare.

We are bringing We Are Warriors to the Marine Lake to begin building relationships with local
communities, artists, organisations and partners in the town.

The Weston presentation is part of Good Grief Weston, a festival produced by Superculture in collaboration with the University of Bristol and Weston-super-Mare Community Network, exploring death, bereavement and grief through creative activity, conversation and shared experience.

The presentation has also been made possible with support from Weston Town Council.

Rather than turning away from difficult feelings, We Are Warriors asks us to remember,
listen and come together — and to discover what might happen when we make something
powerful together.
